What is ASTM A335 P1 Pipes?

ASTM A335 P1 pipes are seamless low-alloy carbon steel pipes, also known as carbon-molybdenum or chrome-moly P1 pipes, designated by UNS K11522. Designed for moderate- to high-temperature applications, these pipes offer improved strength and creep resistance compared to plain carbon steel, thanks to their carbon and approximately 0.5% molybdenum content. The seamless construction ensures uniform strength, durability, and structural integrity, making them ideal for boiler, pressure vessel, and moderate-pressure applications. 

ASTM A335 P1 pipes can be manufactured as hot-finished or cold-drawn and are often self-quenched in air. Common heat treatments include N+T, Q+T, or A/N+T processes. These pipes comply with ASME SA335 P1 standards and are available in various diameters and lengths. Mechanical properties include a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPa, a yield strength of 205 MPa, and an elongation of 30/20% (L/T). Serving as an economical solution for specific temperature ranges, P1 pipes provide reliable performance where higher-grade P11 or P22 pipes are unnecessary.
