304 stainless steel sheets and plates are available in multiple finishes to suit different applications:

  • No. 2D Finish: Smooth, non-reflective cold-rolled finish, annealed, pickled, or descaled.
  • No. 2B Finish: Smooth, moderately reflective cold-rolled finish with a final light cold-rolled pass using polished rolls.
  • Bright Annealed (BA) Finish: Smooth, bright, reflective finish achieved by cold rolling followed by annealing in a protective atmosphere to prevent oxidation.
  • No. 3 Finish: Short, coarse, parallel polishing lines along the coil length.
  • No. 4 Finish: Short, parallel polishing lines mechanically polished from a No. 3 finish with finer abrasives; widely used in architectural and decorative applications.
  • No. 7 Finish: High reflectivity and mirror-like appearance, achieved by buffing a No. 4 finish for up to 10 minutes; fine polishing lines remain visible.
  • No. 8 Finish: Mirror-like finish obtained by extended buffing of No. 7 finish; finer polishing lines are less visible but can be seen on close inspection.
