What is ASTM A312 304 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes?

ASTM A312 304 Stainless Steel Pipes & Tubes are high-quality austenitic stainless steel pipes widely used in industrial applications due to their excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and high-temperature performance. These pipes are commonly referred to as 18/8 stainless steel, as they contain a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel, along with carbon and nitrogen for enhanced strength.

The ASTM A312 standard covers seamless and welded 304 stainless steel pipes intended for high-temperature and general-purpose service. Seamless pipes under this standard can be manufactured up to 24 inches in diameter, while welded pipes (ASTM A358) can reach diameters of up to 48 inches. These pipes demonstrate excellent resistance to oxidation, crevice corrosion, and pitting, making them suitable for transporting sulfuric, acetic, nitric, phosphoric, and other organic acids. They can withstand intermittent service temperatures up to 870°C and continuous service temperatures up to 925°C. ASTM A312 304 pipes are produced using advanced manufacturing processes including hot and cold working, annealing, and stress-relieving, ensuring uniform strength, dimensional accuracy, and superior surface finish. The seamless pipes are fabricated from a single-piece steel billet, while welded pipes are joined using standard welding techniques, maintaining excellent weldability.
