Titanium Grade 1 wire (UNS R50250), manufactured to ASTM B863, is the softest and most ductile of the commercially pure titanium grades, chosen for TIG welding filler wire, mesh production and cold-forming applications where maximum formability outweighs strength. It is identified as UNS R50250 and Werkstoff 3.7025, with a minimum tensile strength of 240 MPa and a minimum yield strength of 170 MPa, it is suitable for use in applications involving a high degree of bending and forming. Grade 1 wire has a melting point of some 1670°C, and will perform well in difficult environments. Also, it forms a protective layer of titanium oxide to increase the resistance to moisture, chlorides and oxidizing environment.
