Nitinol Super Elastic Rod is a nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloy rod designed to be bent and bent many times without heating. The rod exhibits superelasticity when used above the austenite finish (Af) temperature, exhibiting a reversible transition between the austenite and martensite phase. This allows for great recoverable strain and allows the rod to regain its original shape when the applied force is removed. It’s made of ASTM F2063 Nitinol and is available in custom diameters and lengths for medical devices, actuators, robotics, aerospace and precision mechanisms. Traceability and quality verification can be carried out by providing material test certificates. Sachin Steel Centre manufactures and delivers Nitinol Super Elastic Rod to your specifications, technical assistance, and is ideal for industrial and specialist applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Nitinol Super Elastic Rod is a nickel-titanium alloy rod that can undergo large deformation and return to its original shape after the load is removed.

It works through a reversible stress-induced transformation from austenite to martensite during loading and back to austenite during unloading.

A superelastic rod recovers its shape when the load is removed, while a shape memory rod requires heating above its transformation temperature.

A Nitinol Super Elastic Rod can typically recover up to about 8% strain, depending on material condition and operating conditions.

Yes, they can be customized in diameter, length, surface finish, and transformation temperature according to application requirements.

Pick an Af below the lowest temperature the rod will see; a higher nickel content gives a lower Af.

For repeated use, keep strain near 4% or less. The minimum bend radius is about 12 times the rod diameter.
