Stainless Steel Pipes

Stainless steel pipes are those which resist corrosion and are used to convey liquids, gas, steam and process fluids. These pipes contain minimum 10.5% chromium and have an oxide layer on its surface which acts as protective covering for metal. We offer seamless and welded pipe in grade 304, 304L, 316L, 321, 904L and duplex. Select the grade based on temperature, pressure, nature of fluid and its corrosive environment. The standard specification of seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipe is ASTM A312 / ASME SA312 and its dimensions are as per ASME B36.19M. Sachin Steel Centre offers stainless steel pipes in Mumbai to industrial buyers in India and overseas markets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Stainless steel pipes are hollow steel products containing at least 10.5% chromium, designed to transport liquids, gases, steam and other fluids with good corrosion resistance.

Stainless steel pipes are used in oil and gas, chemical processing, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, power generation and water treatment industries.

Common grades include 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 310S, 904L and duplex stainless steel grades such as 2205.

Seamless pipes are manufactured without a welded joint, while welded pipes are formed from steel strips or plates joined by welding.

Yes, stainless steel pipes resist corrosion because chromium forms a protective oxide layer on the surface. The level of resistance depends on the grade and operating environment.

The number sets the wall thickness for each nominal pipe size under ASME B36.19M. A higher number is a thicker wall, so Sch 80S carries more pressure than Sch 10S at the same outside diameter. The S marks stainless pipe schedules.

ASTM A312 / ASME SA312 covers seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipe. Duplex pipe is ASTM A790, and tube is ASTM A269, A249 or A213 depending on the use.
