When GMAW welding titanium that is commercially pure, the welder requires wire that feeds smoothly and matches the parent metal while not adding unnecessary rigidity to the weld joint. Grade 2 MIG wire fulfills this requirement perfectly. Grade 2 Titanium MIG wire has the AWS A5.16 classification ERTi-2 as it is the designation for filler metals that are used for gas metal arc welding of commercially pure titanium. The wire is wound on spools that fit standard MIG welding equipment. This wire carries the UNS designation R50400, the same designation used for Titanium Grade 2 base metal.  The chemical composition of the wire is strictly defined according to the AWS A5.16 standards, which ensures that the weld filler remains ductile and not contaminated during the process, whether manual or automated.   •   Pressure Vessels and Piping. Titanium Grade 2 MIG wire produces clean, ductile welds suited to pressure vessel and piping fabrication where joint integrity matters as much as corrosion resistance.
  •   Heat Exchangers. Fabricators use Titanium Grade 2 MIG wire for tube to tubesheet joints and heat exchanger assembly where consistent, contamination free welds are essential.
  • Chemical Processing Equipment. Reactors, tanks and process piping welded with Titanium Grade 2 MIG wire retain the base metal’s resistance to acids and chlorides through the joint.
