A MIG welder does not feed titanium the way it feeds mild steel, and the wire has to be built for that from the start. Titanium Gr 23 MIG wire is Ti-6Al-4V ELI, drawn and spooled specifically for gas metal arc welding rather than cut into straight lengths, classified ERTi-23 under AWS A5.16 and made to ASTM B863, UNS R56407. It is the extra-low interstitial counterpart to standard ERTi-5 wire, so the weld itself ends up more ductile and more resistant to cracking, which is why it goes into aerospace fuel lines, medical device fabrication and cryogenic vessels where the weld cannot be the weak point. Sachin Steel Centre supplies it spooled and coiled, drawn to a size that feeds cleanly through an automated torch.
