A spinal implant screw and a landing gear part demand much more of a titanium bar than standard Grade 5 can provide, therefore, there is a Titanium Grade 5 ELI round bar. The latter is the extra low interstitial version of Ti 6Al 4V, also known as ASTM Grade 23, which is produced in round, hexagonal and square bar shapes from titanium 6-4 alloy. It has the same amounts of aluminum and vanadium as Grade 5 but has much lower levels of oxygen and iron, which contributes to enhanced fracture toughness and ductility of the material. This is why one bar of the alloy is able to be used in the production of a surgical implant, a cryogenic component and a critical part of an aircraft which is highly dangerous at the same time. In addition to production of titanium bars, Sachin Steel Centre provides testing and certification of each bar produced in Mumbai.
